About Upbeat Gardens

Passion and philosophy.

One gardener, every garden

Upbeat Gardens is Craig; a qualified horticulturist aiming to support his clients to get the most from their residential outdoor spaces.

Craig had a roundabout way of becoming a gardener, though in hindsight it should have been obvious; an early memory of 'helping' dad with irrigation, growing bonsai in his teens, working at a garden centre while studying engineering...

After more than a decade of working in offices, and taking some time out of the workforce to parent, Craig rediscovered his love of plants and gardens and went back to study Horticulture, before spending time working in beautiful gardens throughout Adelaide's eastern suburbs.

A passion for reducing environmental impact means Upbeat Gardens uses only battery- and hand-powered tools, and approaches weed, pest & disease management through considered actions and treatments. Craig also recognises the privilege of working on Kaurna land, and cares deeply about incorporating local native flora into garden projects.

Every garden is different - they all have their own quirks, histories and desired outcomes. Craig enjoys the challenge of deciphering these problems and working with their custodians (in as much or little as they would like to be involved) to achieve outdoor spaces which bring joy.
